Estepona WFC has recently been established to promote healthy living, social connection, and active lifestyles for older adults within the Estepona community.
Participants ranging from 50 to 70 years of age will enjoy walking football — one of the fastest-growing sports in Europe. The sport provides significant physical, mental, and social health benefits. Regular exercise and weekly sporting activity are proven to improve fitness, reduce isolation, and support mental wellbeing as people grow older. In addition to our socially inclusive environment, the club will participate in the Andalucian Walking Football League, competing with teams stretching along the Costa del Sol from Nerja to Estepona.
Our goal is to create a positive, inclusive, and health-focused sporting environment where we all look out for and respect one another.
Head Coach Mark Lamb joined Giles Brown on Talk Radio Europe's Let's Talk to explain how a club that started in April with three players now fields two league teams, and why walking football is "football chess".
Estepona Walking Football Club has marked an impressive milestone, with both its Over-50s and Over-60s teams recording convincing victories in their first-ever matches since the club was formed in April.
A new walking football club has officially launched in Estepona, and the first training session was a great success, giving local players a chance to discover a new way to enjoy the beautiful game.
Whether you want to play, help out or just come along and watch, we would love to hear from you.
