Estepona Walking Football Club Celebrates Winning Start to New Era

Saturday 15 August 2026

Estepona Walking Football Club has marked an impressive milestone, with both its Over-50s and Over-60s teams recording convincing victories in their first-ever matches since the club was formed in April.

Playing at their home ground in Cancelada, the Estepona Over-50s got the day off to a flying start with a 10-1 victory over Málaga, with Ángel & Leigh leading the scoring with 3 goals each for Estepona.  Andy 2, Alvaro 2.

The Over-60s followed with an equally impressive performance, securing an 8-1 win. William was the star of the show, scoring four goals to help his team to a memorable victory.

For a club that began just three months ago, the results are a fantastic achievement.

“We are absolutely delighted with the wins. It is amazing to think that we only set up the group at the beginning of May and already have two competitive teams playing matches,” said Mark Lamb, Head Coach.

“Our aim was to bring together players who have enjoyed football in their younger years and still have that competitive drive, while playing quality walking football in a friendly and enjoyable environment. Today was a great demonstration of what the club is all about.”

There was also a special mention for Málaga’s goalkeeper, Jeff Miller, who was awarded Man of the Match for an outstanding performance between the posts.

With plenty of shots finding the back of the net, his saves undoubtedly prevented the scoreline from being even more emphatic!

More Than Just a Game

Sponsored by ParkPayStay, Estepona Walking Football Club was established to give men aged 50 and over the opportunity to stay active, meet new people and continue enjoying the game they love.

Walking football is a growing sport across Europe and offers the chance to enjoy the competitive side of football without the running and physical demands of the traditional game.

For many players, it’s also about much more than what happens on the pitch, it’s the friendships, the social side and being part of a team.

And judging by Estepona WFC’s first results, there is certainly plenty of competitive spirit in the squad!
